connecting rod correct???
hi im new to the board and have just started a rebuild of my 88 iroc and i was wondering if this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ESP-5700BP-1/ would be a good replacement rod for the car... everything else is good but the bearing siezed and i dont want to take the chance of a micro fracture in the rod or anything... my main concern is the weight of it

Re: connecting rod correct???
Awfully expensive way to go. Just take your bad rod down to your local automotive machine shop. Every such shop in the USA has a large pile of these rods, just sitting around.

You wouldn't want to buy a single rod like that. It won't be a close match with the rest of the rods in your engine and would throw it out of balance in a big way.
I don't know of a place online to buy stock connecting rods, other than perhaps E-Bay.
As suggested, go to a local machine shop. First, they can check your old rod to see how it survived. They may be able to just resize the rod and make it good as new. If it is damaged beyond use a good shop should have no trouble seeing that and telling you.
They will probably have spare rods that they would part with for a low price. Stock rods are tossed aside all the time when people put in aftermarket rods. If you are nice they may even find a rod that is close in weight to your old rod so that you won't be forced to balance the engine.
