pcv maybe?

just got a quick question im working on a friends 1934 chevy p/u it had a late 60's early 70's corvette 327 motor in it all stock with a single barrel carb. we swapped a victor jr intake onto it with a holley 600 but when i took the intake off there was a small canister mounted on the backside of the lifter galley that the intake would rest on so i cant bolt it up. does anyone know what this is and how i am to get rid of it thanks alot

Lose it ;
it is the oil baffle used on the real early blocks where the breather just dumped over the back of the engine into the air stream.The PCV system made it redundant
