What to upgrade now?
Hi Guys,
I've been working with my setup (see sig) for a few months now and it seems fairly powerful... maybe around 350-ish HP at the crank. In order to get closer to the 400HP (at crank) mark, what part of my setup would I need to change/upgrade? Better heads? Bigger injectors? All the above?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: What to upgrade now?
Looks like a 400 hp engine to me. Were the heads ported? If not, I can post flow bench results of what my own $5-per-port-intake and $10-per-port-exhaust porting does for these heads. Then you would want a set of 30# injectors for certain.

Thanks for the reply, Atilla!
My heads are unported. If you don't mind, seeing the bench results would be great.
I've done several searches and some people say the Iron Eagle heads are great while others say they are terrible. I was getting a little confused, so I thought I would ask

The numbers are in my filing cabinet, which is at home, not here, so that'll have to be in the morning. Then you can judge for yourself how good they are.

These were Dart Iron Eagle 180cc heads, with 2.02/1.60" valves, tested on a SuperFlow 1020 flow bench. Note that the exhaust ports were flowed without a length of header tubing attached, neither before or after. The customer paid for stage 1 intake porting and stage 2 exhaust porting. Intake numbers: .100" from 55 before to 61 after. .200"= 113 b, 124 a. .300"= 175 b, 181 a. .400"= 207 b, 223 a. .500"= 228 b, 243 a. .600"= 223 b, 242 a. Now, exhaust numbers: .100"= 46 b, 53 a. .200"= 95 b, 110 a. .300"= 129 b, 144 a. .400"= 153 b, 171 a. .500"= 166 b, 186 a. .600"= 172 b, 195 a.

Stage 5 TPIS chip? Is that an off-the shelf chip? I can't imagine TPIS sells a complete engine that has the same specs as yours. If that's the case, I'd get it custom tuned- you're likely to get a nice surprise.

It's fun spending someone else's money (I should be in congress).
I don't see any suspension upgrades.

Thanks for the bench results Atilla! Looks like I need to port them
A TPIS Stage 5 chip is a custom chip they make for your application.
Five7kid, the only real suspension upgrade I have is some Jegster bolt-in SFC. What is the best 'bang for the buck' when it comes to suspension?
Thanks again guys!

Re: What to upgrade now?
Now, being totally serious, those exhaust ports are extremely sensitive, and odds are you'll end up not improving most of the exhaust ports anywhere near this much. You can take quite alot out of the short turns, but then you run the risk of having the flow slow down. It is tricky.
