Compression question

I know I don`t have any of the specs for this engine but if anyone can help
it would be great.A guy at work is building up a 400 small block and want`s
to put a set of 64 c.c. heads off a 327.I told him he better try to find out what the compression ratio will be before he bolts them on.I believe it was 10.5:1 on
a 327.The 400 is a standard bore with stock or stock replacement pistons.I
know you can`t give me an exact number but even +/- .5 would be good. Thanks

Re: Compression question

There are several compression ratio calculators on the internet that you can use. Even if you don't know all the specs, you can guesstimate a couple, like deck height, piston valve relief ccs, and get pretty close.

Use Google.

64cc heads likely wont push the compression ratio too high on a performance build with a mild-moderate cam, etc. The killer will be quench. Stock deck with rebuilder pistons = bad quench. He needs to do some measuring.

Also, what is this engine going in? What year are the heads. In all honesty he is better off going with a better set of modern heads.
