Heat Shielding Needed?

Heat Shielding Needed?
I was wondering if the heat shielding between the gas tank and muffler, under the catalytic converter, and over top of the differential is needed. I could see if it has some thermal shielding properties but my heat shielding is metal. I can see if having a nominal effect but nothing significant. I was thinking about putting a layer of real heat shielding on it and installing them.
Thoughts?

The metal shield works on the principle that air is a poor thermal conductor, as in such the shield divides the air on both sides and as such keeps a lot of the heat from the muffler from reaching the tank.

I would leave them, they do their job quite well. Only reason to remove them would be if they were obstructing something, and at that point, you would insulate the pipe with wrap or ceramic coating
