Pulling a 305/T5 out need some advice
Ok so i've got an LS1/t56 to go back in. But what's the best way to pull the old motor/tranny out together? I've got a guy that know's what he's doing that's gonna help me put it all together but I'd like to go ahead and get a start on it and get the old setup pulled out. So just disconnect all sensors, cables ect., remove the radiator, hood. But my question is, is there specific points on a TBI 305 to hook a cherry picker too? If so where, and will these points allow me to drop the tranny low enough to pull it all out at once? Never pulled a motor before so this is all new to me. Thanks in advance

When I pull a motor with a T5 attached, I'll remove the trans from the bellhousing. It's only four more bolts to remove. Then you don't have to worry about it swinging around and leaking fluid everywhere.
There should be two loops attached to the intake (one by #1, the other by #8), you can hook a chain to these. Or if you have the accesories removed from the front of the motor, a 3/8-16 bolt into the end of the head will work. I use the same diagonal (#1,#8) chain aragenment as the loops, the rear of the passanger head is drilled, so you can hook a chain back there.
When you are about ready to pull it, go over all the wires/connections again. Sometimes there is a ground strap on the back of the motor. Or wiring bolted to the bellhousing or back of one of the heads. Thoes can be unbolted once the motor is lifted a few inches though. Removing the distributor helps gain some room too. Once it's in the air you should be able to see if there is anything still hooked up.
