sorry for all the recent questions about engine issues. just trying to get things done before we put it away this winter!

my last question is this. our '92 lo3 rs has 130k miles, runs good and strong, but when you turn the key to start it, the engine has a very noticeable "tick tick tick tick tick" that dies off in a few seconds. oil pressure is good, 55 on start up, 30-55 during driving. after 10 minutes of driving once it reaches operating temp, this ticking comes back again, it is very noticeable at idle. also you can hear a slight rattling noise with the ticking. it only does this on start up and when its warm. the ticking is probably something to do with a lifter? the rattling i have no idea.

i know there have been other threads about this car doing this made, but this rattling is kind of a new development...

 

Whats your oil pressure like? Lifter rattle at startup with that many miles really isn't a big surprise.....

 

ticking & rattling maybe an exhaust leak?

 

^^ normal. 55-60 on start up, 30-55 during normal driving at all times. it has normal pressure for a 305.
