Engine cut out, will restart for 30 seconds

Engine cut out, will restart for 30 seconds
2002 Firebird, V6
The car has been driving and operating fine with the exception of a minor loss in gas mileage.
Yesterday I drove the car for about a mile at which point the engine cut out. It would not restart.
I had it towed home and left it sitting overnight. In the morning I attempted to start it back up, which to my surprise it actually did... for a whole 30 seconds, and then it died again. During this time my engine rattled just a bit, as if a spark plug was out, but then it just cut out again.
Any ideas?
