Major Tuneup - Car won't run. ??

Okay, guys... I hate posting up new threads when answers are already out there, but there are a couple of things I have not been able to find... so I'm just going to put it all out there.

92 RS... needed a distributor badly. Had play in the shaft and was beginning to score the inside of the cap. No good. Had all stock components in there, so I decided to upgrade a bit.

I installed a used (lightly) all billet distributor that I got off of a guy on here. Indexed it identically to the way the old one was removed. New ACDelco CR45 plugs, all gapped to .045. Accel wires. Had an MSD Blaster 3, new, that I wasn't using. After taking some readings on our stock coils, it appeared that the two white and two pink wires were wired together directly inside the coil itself... essentially just having + and - tied together, going 2 different directions, through 2 connections. So I wired the Blaster 3 together, +'s to +, -'s to -.

With everything in place and the timing roughly as it was before the removal, I give it a start. Runs, but very rough. No matter what I set the timing to, it's still very very rough and will either be dog slow or die when I try to take it out for a spin.

I need to hook up the timing light to it to make sure that I'm not totally off and to cover my bases, but I've really tried advancing and retarding... never gets quite right. Just tries to die if you take it too much either way.

Questions: Does combining the 4 coil wires to 2 as I did interfere with ignition advance or the ignition module's ability to control the coil? I'd asked this a while back, but never got a response...

- Is .045 gap too much? From everything I'd seen, I felt that it should be fine, particularly with a better coil.

- Is the polarity of the magnetic pickup on the dizzy important? The dizzy I received doesn't have a connector going to the ignition module, but two spade connectors instead.

I was pretty meticulous about re-wiring all the plug wires exactly as they were before. Does anyone know offhand what the correct order is for wires around the distributor cap?

If this info has been covered and I just couldn't find it... I apologized. I've just been looking for the answers to these different things, things like the coil wiring I've just found no real answer on yet.

Thanks!

Firing order is 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2. Distributor rotates in a clockwise direction. Verify correct firing order, and that all wires have a good connection. Cylinders are number odd on the drivers side, even on the passenger side, 1 and 2 are the front cylinders on each bank.

Combining the wires should make zero difference.

To properly set timing, you need to disconnect the "set timing" connector on the passenger side firewall, If I recall correctly, it is a tan wire, (brown?) with a black stripe. Single wire connector. (this WILL set a code, just set the timing correctly, and then clear the codes.)
