Re: buying 88 iroc

Check the block casting numbers, on the drivers side, right behind the cylinder head. They are NOT easy to see...... but, right down the code, and I think there is a utility somewhere here on the site to see what it is.

Re: buying 88 iroc

Computers the same.

Chip data a little different, fueling, cubic inch, spark, I believe.
Easy to reprogram with a little help.
Or could try to pick up a 5.7 computer or if going to modify in the future,
go the chip route.
Also a little larger injectors, 19# to 22 or 23#.

Computer board on here can will give you all the info you need.
Very knowledgeable

Re: buying 88 iroc

Be careful. When I was looking for my IROC, most guys who said they swapped in a 350 were full of it. The 305 TPI and 350 TPI look the same, so some people try to pull a fast one.

If you can get under the car (a reasonable thing to do when inspecting a car you're considering buying), the last three digits of the block casting number are sometimes cast into the side of the block - easier to see than trying to get your face behind the driver side head. You can look them up on www.mortec.com. The last three digits are unique, never duplicated even with all of the digits that proceed.

Odds are it's still got a 305 in it. But, he might be telling the truth.

Re: buying 88 iroc

Maybe with the issues he's having you could pick it up at a good price

Enough or more to it your way and come out ahead of the game.

Just a thought.
