my '84 camaro wont start!! help!
ok so my car needed belts. they were squeaky. and i dorve one night and the belt tore and i didnt know. the next day tried to startit. well no belt. no start. i got a new one put it on. wouldnt start. sparks flew when i hooked the battery to jumper cables.
i figured there was something with the starter. replaced the starter. put a new battery in it. and all it does when i turn the key is a light clicking noise. and i have no power to anyting. no lights stereo. nothing. well then i looked at fuses. and the first one i pulled out was burnt out. could this be my only problem left?

Just replace them if they blow, I dont think you need to know which one is making you have that problem, if its blown, replace it.

There are no fuses in the start circuit.
Since you don't have power to anything, one of two things happened: 1) The fuseable link for the chassis power has blown; 2) the chassis power wire didn't get hooked up when you replaced the starter - it goes to the same starter terminal as the positive battery cable.
First make sure no wiring got torn when the belt failed. Not too likely, but you need to check.
For sparks to fly when you hooked up the jumper cables, one of two conditions had to exist: 1) You had the jumper cables on + on one battery and - on the other battery; 2) there was a hot wire shorted on the car somewhere.

ok five7kid.
umm i know for a fact the cables were hooked up right. and youre saying that one of the wires has to be hooked to the same terminal as the battery?
i have three terminals 1) battery 2) S 3) R
there is two wires going to one eyelet and the other is just one wire.
i have the double wired one to S and the single to R
i just switched out the fuse and it didnt work. but we crossed over on the starter and it turned over so we do know it is a wire.
so youre saying if i hook up the double one to the battery is it going to work, right?

The purple wire with the small eyelet goes to the "S" terminal.
The red wires with the large eyelet goes to the same large terminal as the battery cable.
