Rotor button stuck

I am doing a tuneup on my 91 GTA, and the rotor button REFUSES to come off. I have tried prying on it with all kinds of things, being careful of the pick up coil, and it simply will not budge. What the hell can I do???

Re: Rotor button stuck

To be sure you are referring to the little cap inside the distributor cap that spins on the inside? If its your stock one, it will be a pain. If you're removing it I'm assuming you have a replacement? What I ended up doing is breaking and chiseling it off. Just get a BFH and a flat head screwdriver and go to town. It just pops on and isn't attached with a screw or anything...

Re: Rotor button stuck

Yes, I am referring to the rotor under the distributor cap. It is not stock and appears to be MSD since it is red. I've had breaker bars under it and it won't pry off, so I guess if worse comes to worse I will try the chisel method.

Re: Rotor button stuck

I had an MSD rotor once too. I think it was a pain to remove and when it was off, It wouldn't go back on.
