Cleaning aluminum intake with TSP

I recently scored a filthy Edelbrock intake from the junkyard and want to clean it. I've restored a number of old machine tools and usually use a large galvanized pan with a solution of water & TriSodiumPhosphate heated with a propane fired turkey frying rig. It's always worked very well at removing industrial paint finishes & grease/oil. Anyone know of a good reason why this wouldn't work with the intake ? I've looked online but haven't found a definitive answer. I do know that it's routinely used to clean aluminum boats & aluminum siding so I'm not seeing a reason not to try it but wondered if anyone had experience with this.

Thanks.

I do not see a reason why it would not work. However, I took mine to a local machine shop and had it glass beaded for $10. It looks brand new and was well worth the $10 for me to not have to do anything.

Just a thought!
