Re: What year of block?!! Can't find suffix code..

Very few triple digit suffix codes start with an F. Actually there's very few F suffix codes.

I see very little choices of alternatives for an F.
E, B, R, P all show little choices for a possible match.

What side of the block is the dipstick on?
Does it use a one or two piece rear main seal?
What's the casting number?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The casting # is all you need. Post that.

The dipstick is on the passenger side. I THINK its a one piece seal, but its been a few years since i've had the tranny off...the casting # is not visible (grease, dirt, air hose and wires in the way). Looks like i'll need to pull the intake and see if its tapped for the spider maybe?

Crawl underneath and see if the last three digits of the casting # are cast into the side of the block.

Re: What year of block?!! Can't find suffix code..

You can't trust the suffix code all the time. My 90 vette has a over the counter motor with a suffix code that comes up as a 80 truck 350, however the GM part number where the bellhousing bolts up comes up as a 87-91 roller cam motor.

There is also no VIN number stamped on the pad where the suffix coded number is.
