Ok this happened to me on christmas eve also. Basically my car wont start! Its not the battery or starter because I get power and it starts to turn on but the engine just wont start.
Now on xmas eve the problem was a dirty coil where the spark plug was on. A family member who is a mechanic just cleaned it off and it started right up. Now its happening again and I tried cleaning it but nothing.
ANY help would be appreciated.

Well I changed the main spark plug wire, the shortest one, still nothing. I tried getting a jump from my dads truck, again, nothing.
Idk what it could possibly be. I only changed the 1 main spark plug wire, should I change ALL of them?

 

so it cranks but no start. have you checked for spark to the plugs?

 

Are you getting spark at the plugs? Pull a plug out, re-attach your spark plug wire and hold the plug to the block or a bracket on the engine somewhere while someone turns the engine over. Should see a good blue spark from the plug. Start there and let me know.

 

Yeah we did this when it happened on christmas eve and we DID get a spark. I didnt test it today though. Im trying to get ahold of the guy who fixed it before. Worse comes to worst Ill just have it towed to my mechanic because Im not the best mechanic myself as you can tell.
Could it be that I need new plugs along with the wires?

 

Probably a good idea to change plugs when you change the wires. Have someone check your coil too or just replace it, they're pretty cheap. Good luck..let know how you make out.

 

Yeah I just talked to him, he said it could possibly be the coil. Ill be finding out tomorrow morning.
Where could I go to get a coil? Pepboys should sell them right?
Because Im always on jegs and summit and see the MSD coils but theyre like $100. I just want something cheap to get me going until I get some extra cash to buy higher quality parts.
Ill grab some plugs while im at it too.

I just said $100 because I remember I was going to get one for my last car and it was like $100+

Well it turns out it was just a bad coil. Thank god it was only that haha.
Swapped the old one out today with a brand new one and it starts right up. Feels like its a smoother ride too, not all rough when idling either.
