89 camaro wont start

i have a 1989 rs tbi camaro
rebuilt 305 engine 3000 miles
rebuilt t5 transmission 0 miles
new battery
new fuel pump and fuel filter

car had a problem where the ignition switch would occasionaly not work and push starting the car temporarily fixed the problem. I eventually put two wires on the starter and made it to where i could push a button with the key on and the car will start. then one night i went about 60 miles from home and the car was running great i parked it and then went to start it again and all it does is crank over using the start button. i thought it was the fuel pump not supplying the injectors with enough fuel pressure put a new pump in it. problem not solved. if i dump gas into the throttle body the car will start but run rough and wont idle. could this be vats?
how do i fix it

It Runs But It’s No Fun

When the car has been off for a while, and you turn the key to RUN, do you hear the fuel pump?

Re: 89 camaro wont start

ya the fuel pump works everytime and i got the car started today by dumping gas into the throtle body that eliminates vats starting to think its a bad sensor or vacuum leak

Re: 89 camaro wont start

this might be a dumb thing to say but is there VATS anywhere near this car? A bad VATS module will cut the fuel to the engine.

Re: 89 camaro wont start

ya i have enough fuel pressure ive eliminated everything it could be from fuel delivery problems to sensors and vacuum leaks egr valve and the ecu so i have confirmed that the problem is VATS
how do u check the chip in the key?
how do u disarm vats?
are there any proms out there that eliminat vats?
is there a wiring schematic of vats?
how do u bipass vats?

Re: 89 camaro wont start

the easiest way it to have a prom burnt that eliminates vats

but that does not sound like your problem

lets just make sure that you have the pulsed ground that is sent to the injectors by the computer

you need a noid light to make this diagnosis

the reason that I say is the car should not run on when you feather the gas for any lenth of time after the initial gas you put down the tb is used

pull a plug and see if they are wet at all

also try unplugging one injector at a time and starting it

it is possible that you have a injector grounding out and disrupting the whole batch of fuel injectors

if it comes down to vats and you dont want to hack into the wiring harness with a vats eliminator module

get your chip reburnt

Re: 89 camaro wont start

unplugging the injectors didnt do anything and the reason i think it is vats is because the engine wont crank with the key i have to jump the starter
