Long/Short water pump question???? NEED HELP ASAP!

I have an 85 camaro and i juts bought a water pump for it, and it should have the short one if im not mistaken i have bought 2 different ones specifically for my car and neither of them line up the pulleys... properly anyways...

now the pulleys for the water pump and the crank are 3 groove v-belt type... the 2 last grooves from the water pump line up with the 2 last grooves from the crank pulley, im not using a/c or smog pump, so can i run the alternator and p/s pump that way?
i think i should be able to but i anna make sure that i can before something breaks...
i need to have my car running this weekend, so i need an answer soon...
thank you very much!

All passenger cars since 1969 except Corvettes have had long water pumps.

Even the reverse rotation water pumps are called a long water pump.

so no one has run into this though? the pulleys not lining up correctly? the water pump just puts one groove to far forward but the last 2 line up with the first 2 of the crank pulley?
is there a spacer or something im missing for the crank?

Are both pulleys original off the same engine? There are multiple types of pulleys available from the factory to drive different accessories. Don't worry about the extra groove and just use the ones that do line up properly. You can mix and match pulleys all you want as long as the grooves you want to use will line up. Pulleys also come in different diameters. Underdriving or overdriving components a little bit won't cause a big issue but too much can cause problems.

as far as i know theyre from the stock engine... the pulley that lines up with the alernator is a bit bigger than the one that its supposed to be using... the on that ill use for the p/s is the same size...
