Did GM goof?

I bought an 89 gta tonight thinking it was a 305. I know the 350 was std on the GTA's but the gm sticker under the hood clearly stated 5.0, but when I ran the vin it came up as a 5.7. Possible that gm goofed when putting on the sticker? Either way I'll know tomorrow after I take a look at the number on the block for myself.

Re: Did GM goof?

Is the VIN on the sticker? After all these years, I wouldn't be surprised if the hood has been replaced. My 87 GTA is wearing a 89 GTA hood.

Thats a good question and possibility. The car is sitting over at my buddies house right now I'll have to take a look in the morning.

Re: Did GM goof?

If your GTA has a T5, then it is a 5.0.

Despite all the rumors, no one has yet to produce a verifiable, factory equipped 5.7/T5 3rd gen.

Something's been changed by a previous owner. Check the casting numbers on the block.
