stalling problem

Hello,
i have an 87 IROC 5.0 TPI with a T-5. I bought this car with a spun rod bearing a year ago and have finally got it running. now i'm having an issue with it stalling. If i down shift coming to a stop which i normally do with any stick shift it will stall when i downshift to first and push in the clutch and brake. if i don't downshift at all and let the brakes stop the car completely then it drops down to idle and is fine. there are no SES lights no codes no nothing and i am lost at possible causes here. other then this problem the car runs like a champ. thanks for any and all help you can give to get this issue fixed. thanks

Dave
