which heads to use?
ok, im building a very mild sbc, basically a poor mans build... not looking for outstanding numbers but i would be very happy to see 300bhp
right now i have a set of stock 882s that i plan to pocket port and mill to boost compression, i magnafluxed the heads and they're not cracked
now i also have the chance to get free heads off of a 1990 suburban, not sure of the cast number and wouldnt be able to pick them up for another 2 weeks, they came off a 2 bolt main 350 block
can anyone tell me about these heads? cast number? cc? flow numbers? how they flow in this higher rpms?
if these truck heads flow better all through the lift and rpm range ill wait to hot tank the parts, otherwise ill be ready to hot tank by this weekend

Re: which heads to use?
I would guess the heads are swirl ports, since a 90 suburban would have TBI. I'm not sure what casting number they would have though. Also, there may have been both a 305TBI and 350TBI available in that year suburban - I know both were available on my 95 chevy truck.

Re: which heads to use?
im thinking they might be 193 heads, in which case they flow better than 882s all around and already have a 64cc combustion chamber... am i right to think like this?
but the only things i found about 90 suburban heads said they were swirl port and flow shitty in the higher rpm
I NEED SOME DEFINITE ANSWERS lol

Re: which heads to use?
Well, if they turn out to be swirl ports, I wouldn't use them. Those are designed for low-end torque, I.E. towing with a truck.
