swapped 305 carb'd to 355 carb'd
2 questions:

1. distributor;
do i have to have an advance? same stuff that was hooked up before is hooked up now and the 305 ran great (just had some bad rings), should i get a vac advance distributor and hook it into the front of the carb (edel. 650 with one big port in middle and 2 small ones beside it) of will it damage the engine if i dont?

2. exhaust manifolds bolt on to the 355 block but i cant bolt them into the y pipe. it doesnt seem like the the y pipe is long enough. the new engine has a 7 quart pan on bottom but it doesnt seem to be in the way. is there just sand in my mangina or is the 355 set a little higher? I had stock heads before and have 1st gen vortec heads now but they look the same height gonna cut it and put a patch in i guess.
