engine spec sheet

paid $2300 for it from Phoemix Engines, I know it would be cheaper to build one myself but i dont know how. I am wondering if it was worth it on your opinion.

Re: engine spec sheet

Those specs are pretty vague. For that amount of money though, it better be blueprinted and balanced. What year block is it? Roller or non-roller? 2 or 4 bolt mains? What kind of heads? I can get a plain-jane reman roller 350 for under a grand at a reman shop here.

Re: engine spec sheet

its an 87 block, not a solid cam,2 bolt w/1st gen vortec heads, heres a pic from there ebay ad, its there "power 2" engine 350 hp, http://www.phoenixengine.com/Chevy-19.html

the reman shop here only carries 383 and it was around 3K for a long block. I saved money by getting the engine online and shipping it here. I bought the turnkey package minus a few accessories

SPECIAL SALE UPGRADES:
1. Ask for '86 to '95 first generation swirl vortec heads upgrade for low and mid range torque. These are the 12-bolt pattern heads (not pictured on this page). This is a FREE UPGRADE during this limited time offer! The great news is these first generation Swirl Vortec heads will also accommodate all your serpentine drive belt assemblies!
That **** really pisses me off. Those are NOT vortec heads. Vortec heads started in 1996. What they gave you are swirl port L05 TBI truck heads which were good for about 190hp. There is no way that thing makes 350hp. maybe 275 at the flywheel. Maybe. Look up L05 or 193 heads and you'll find out what you need to know about them.

And do you have the "First gen" vortecs, or ACTUAL Vortecs?

Re: engine spec sheet

how can I tell the difference between swirl and true vortec heads by looking at them? I will have to retorque the head bolts after break in but I dont expect to do that now until maybe march. The link I posted wasnt the exact engine i bought, i bought mine back in july but this was the closest I found to what i bought horse power wise. I would like to find out for sure so i can warn others about the place i bought it if that is the case.

Re: engine spec sheet

The vortec heads have only 4 intake bolt holes each. The casting number should be easy to check.
The cam with 109 LSA, I dont think its computer friendly, though thats easy to swap.

Here is my bad experience from buyn a remanufactured engine, https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/clas...ufactured.html

Wow, I really dont know entirely everything you were talking about with that engine but it sounds really F'd up! Its hard to believe that a business would operate like that. They could have fixed one engine for you and saved face but I guess it was more cost effective to screw you over. God bless America! I know I didnt fight in a war for that! I will definetly look into my buy a lot closer now.
