underdrive pullys

not really sure whre to put this so i guess this will work.

last fall i blew a frost plug on my new motor at the top end of the track turning about 6k rpms. so im gunna put new plugs in cause they are all put in with silicone thnx to my machinest. however i also want to run sum added protection and slow the speed of the water pump down and wat better way then with a set of underdrive pulleys so i can also gain a little extra hp.

any way here is the set im looking at any input is appreciated.

Re: underdrive pullys

by frost plug, im guessing your talking about a casting plug. there is no reason it should have come out at 6k running down the track , other then being installed incorectly. underdrive pullies wouldnt have stopped it from coming out... i do like the idea of underdrive pullies though.. if you want some added protection, just pin the new casting plugs.

Re: underdrive pullys

i know they were installed wrong. my machinest used silicone to seal them. got greasy and poped one.
however slowing the water pump is going to lower the pressure in the system when its spinning at higher rpm.

all im asking is if anybody has used these pulleys

Re: underdrive pullys

i, myself, have not used that set in particular. i have a set of march's underdrives and like them alot. either way, an underdrive pully is an underdrive pully. if your looking to free up some some hp, they are a nice investment.

if ya read the small print at the bottom of that summit page, it says they wont effect cooling or chraging, so theoreticaly, the water pump wont be spinning any slower. and your cooling system is only under 16 lbs. of pressure. you can google some vids of blocks being tested and holding 55 lbs. of pres. in the cooling system.... so there is no need to even consider trying to lower the pres.

your radiator cap controls your system pres. and keeping it around 16lbs.. you also need the system under pres. to raise the boiling boint of the water in it.
