Anyone know the GM prt# for an L98 oil pressure switch
anyone have the GM part number for the oil pressure switch/sender for an 88 GTA with an L98?
Ive been trying to find this part number for a while and have failed countless times..
It's the switch that's right above the oil filter...
And I cant check or get pics from my car because she's in storage
thanks guys

For sure? I've found another one that is just strictly for an 88 - 25036936
and an 88 is 2 pronged correct?...
the prt # you gave me says it's for 87-88. Difference maybe?

Looks like 25036936 is for a Corvette.

Hello,
Sorry to hijack this post and I know it is kinda old but...with regards to clearance issues, I've heard there is a smaller (physically) version of the oil pressure switch that is 2 pronged. Could it be PN# 25036553? I also have an aftermarket number of D1818. Trying to find the smaller one if possible to go on a 1990 5.7 TPI with the 1227730 Computer.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Anyone know the GM prt# for an L98 oil pressure switch
There were several different oil pressure senders/switches. Earlier cars had one on the china wall by the distributor that only fed the guage/idiot light (a sender only) that had only one prong. Mid year cars had that one (the sender), plus a switch above the oil filter that ran the fuel pump in the event that the ECM or fuel pump relay crapped out you could still get home (a two prong). Later cars had only the switch at the oil filter that did both functions (a three prong).
Replacing a 3 prong switch with a 2 prong switch will make it so your oil pressure guage/light doesn't work, unless you get another single prong sender and put it atop the china wall and reroute that oil pressure guage wire there.

Hey thanks for the info...I'm running a mechanical gauge so I don't need the input from the switch for the sender. I'm mainly interested in finding a smaller (if one exists) 2 prong swith to run the fuel pump in case of fuel relay failure. Know of one and a part number? Any problems with my thought process?

The only 'smaller' ones I've seen are the single prong jobs, and they won't run fuel pump.

Try this one, its fairly small. Was used on the earlier TPI's.

Re: Anyone know the GM prt# for an L98 oil pressure switch
Thanks, but if i saw it right that is a single prong type. Since I'm running a mechanical gauge I'm looking for a smaller version of the factory one to fit better on the china wall (less clutter). I may plumb the mechanical gauge from the port above the oil filter or vice versa. Anyway, I guess the dilema is whether any old two prong pressure switch will accurately run the fuel pump relay.
thanks everyone....

Re: Anyone know the GM prt# for an L98 oil pressure switch
do you need it to run your guage also, or just the fuel pump,ok just re read your post, missed the mechanical guage
