305ci. - Worth the extra work???
I took my 305 out, pretty much to use as a practice engine. Its been sitting wrapped up for a while and I wanted to toss it back together.
I'm replacing lifters, main bearings, rod bearings, piston rings, and I have a complete gasket kit for it.
I've cleaned every surface of the block, and the cylinders still have a lot of visible cross-hatching / honing that I can see.
Would it be all right to move on and start building it back up without having block/head work done?
Appreciate any input, really want to start driving my car again! (Even if the engine only lasts another couple months without machine work, etc.....
). Thanks guys.

Re: 305ci. - Worth the extra work???
The only thing I would worry about is the cylinder walls.....Back when all I owned was 4 bangers and I blew a motor or 4 trying to learn the ins and outs of boost, I would ****** a block for the JY and hone the walls-if you are gonna run new rings you gotta hone the walls. Ive also been known to run a big belt sander over the head and block to true them up too....all in the name of saving a buck I didnt have!!!
