randomly shut off now no start? please help
i was test driving my car after the tranny swap and drove about a quarter mile. i see smoke under the hood and saw that the coolant hose popped off. everything under the hood was drenched in coolant. i shut it off and pushed it back to the garage. It was running fine then. Now i had it in the garage and was about to fine tune the timing.
I let it run for about 5 minutes to warm up. after that i hooked my timing light up and saw that it was 8 BTDC at idle (put it low to be on the safe side until i had time to propely time it). just a few seconds later the car just shuts off. Not stumbling or anything.. just shuts off as if i turned the ignition off (no dieseling).
I cant figure out whats wrong. Now the car will not start or even try. It just spins over. I have 11 volts on the battery ( i guess from all the starting is draining it), im getting fuel. Could the distributor have gotten wet or something? I just want to know a few things to look at. also its a 383 carbed.
I really need some help guys.. thanks.
