vacuum leak
Ive been trying for 2 weeks to fix the vacuum leak on my 383. Everytime i hook a vacuum guage up it shows between 5-10 and on the gauge it says manifold vaccum. I replaced the manifold gasket twice on the first manifold. Then bought a new manifold and new gasket set. Same thing. Then went crazy and just used the "right stuff" gasket maker and sealed everything up. There is no way in hell there is a vacuum leak at the manifold. Carb is sealed up. Only have 3 vacuum lines. Dizzy advance, brake booster, and one that goes to hvac. I took them off and just pluged them except for one for the vacuum guage and still the same thing. This isnt possible. What the hell?
Re: vacuum leak
not to be a smart guy but is the gauge accurate?are you having trouble w/the way car runs?if your manifold vacuum is indeed that low and i cant imagine it is i would be looking for a valve timing problem.

Re: vacuum leak
i dont think its a valve timing problem but i guess it could be. and the gauge is new. The car runs very good when i just time it with a timing light. Its starts right up, but there is some popping on acceleration, but i think my carb is just too small.
