Ticking noise from under plenum
I have a 305TPI in my 87TA. I Recently replaced my alternator, belts, plugs and wires along with the TPS and IAC and correctly reset everything. Problem is i have a ticking noise that i can hear in the car while driving. I have done everything to trouble shoot the valves, exhaust leak and injectors. My injectors to tick, but this ticking is different, and not as loud as the noise im hearing. I unplugged one injector at a time and the noise never went away. I dont have any exhaust leaks either, and my valves are not making any unusual sounds that i can hear when i put a screwdriver to the covers. The ticking seems to be coming from under the plenum. My question is, how would i check the stuff under there. If it was a EGR wouldnt i be throwing a code? I read in my searches that the FPR can make a ticking noise, but that was only in one thread so im not too sure there. What should i check next because this sound is quite annoying. It seems to stay pretty steady as RPMs rise also, it just ticks away.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Ticking noise from under plenum
I checked my lifters, they are not the source of this ticking. I used a long screwdriver and placed them on my valve covers every inch and the ticking sound is not coming from there, its coming from directly under the plenum, only problem is i dont know how to check what it is, i cant exactly take my plenum off and start my car..

How frequent is the sound? If it is a lifter noise it would be ticking at about half the engine speed.

Re: Ticking noise from under plenum
It's ticking like an exhaust leak, sound wise and its quite frequent. Kinda sounds like a machine gun now. its a lot louder. It's directly under the plenum from what I can tell. In the egr, fpr, and dizzy area. It clicks at the speed of the engine, not half so valves are out. And I doubt its injectors.

Can you get under the car and listen at the oil pan? Could be a rod bearing. Have you seen a change in oil pressure?

I have stock Injectors. Also my. Oil pressure is reading normal and steady and doesn't fluctuate much. I have access to a lift so I can get under the car. What and how would I check underneath?
