My A/C mounting bracket won't fit over my headers

I have a 1991 Camaro and it came with hooker pro headers and it won't it allow the mounting brackect to mount to the engine block. And I am at a loss for how to get my A/C to mount up.

If I recall, that bracket is in two pieces. The main bracket and a support bracket. On mine, when I installed the serpentine set up from an 88 I had to leave off part of the support bracket that was in the way. You don't really need it and lets your headers and bracket bolt up with no problem.

I haven't ran this black brace on my car since I installed headers in 2002... however I had a failure last week. The bracket which holds on the belt tensioner, a/c pump, and smog pump broke. The bots through the a/c snapped off behind the bracket and were left snapped off inside my aluminum heads, and the bottom of the bracket snapped off down below/beside the water pump.

I am now trying to find my bracket and trying to determine how I am going to reinstall it (if I can find it!!) else I will have to fab something up.

Re: My A/C mounting bracket won't fit over my headers

I wouldnt worry about the factory piece, I would probably try to make a brace that runs back over the valve cover and to one of the middle most intake bolts. The further back on the motor, the more support it will provide.

Post up some pics of the failures and of your solution.

Thanks for the heads up. I havent had a working A/C, (hopefully will this weekend though). I might try to fab up a brace for mine as well if you seen a failure from it.
