My car wont stay started

My car starts great...but soon after it starts it dies. So I start it again, and this time it stays for about 5 seconds before it dies again. And so on until it warms up a little more and I can actually drive it. It probably takes a good 15 starts until I can actually drive it though. I have as much fuel running to it as I can. Whats going on here?

Re: My car wont stay started

Few things to check. Ignition timing, fuel pressure, injectors (ohms both cold and warm), and plugs and wires.

electric choke? can you get it started and give it gas to keep it alive. Does it backfire? how old are the spark plugs/wires?

No, even if I keep the hammer down the RPM's fall and the car dies after about 5 seconds. It slowly gets better every time I start it but I still dont trust driving it anywhere. Plugs and wires I need to check. No backfire either.

Re: My car wont stay started

I think I got the problem figured out. I'm getting an electric choke soon to help with cold starts. Not as big of a deal as what I was thinking! Thanks for the posts
