so,I found my plastic trans cover was a bit oil dampened,and I traced to sorce to my distributor?!! wtf? left a little puddle right under it,on top of the intake.did not know they could leak.I was advised to replace the whole thing.
I havnt removed the cap yet to see if its wet under there .

 

Doesn't sound right at all. You definitely need to pull the cap and make sure you dont have oil somehow making it's way in there...it shouldn't even be possible for that to happen really.

If it's leaking from the base that's simple enough, yank that sucker out and replace the O-ring. 5 minute job, 3 dollar part.

yea its weird but true,pulled the cap and its soaked on the inside?! time for a new distributor asap.

 

Replaced and everything is fine,just blows my mind that a distributor could leak up and out the shaft.

 

Had the same problem, thought it was just a top end intake leak until i realized the distributor has an o ring near the top of the shaft and when that gets worn down oil just pisses out the top
