24000 mile service per haynes manual? Serious wrench guys advice wanted

Do people actually do maintenance like changing o2 sensor, egr, trans fluid, and plugs every 24k? my Haynes manual says 2 years or 24k...
I keep up with fluids but don't change out emissions parts unless they throw a code or impair operation...
Plugs I keep up with.
Whats your service interval system like? mileage? I don't mean oil or air filters, i mean plugs, emissions parts, trans fluids, etc.

myself, i replace them as they go bad but clean them from time to time (o2 sens etc.). Haynes manual service intervals are kinda generic the ones from your owners manual will be similar.

the reason for changing them as they tell you to is to keep your car in kinda optimal condition.
