De-greasing the engine???

In preparation of replacing intake, head, and TBI gaskets, I want to really clean out my engine and engine bay of grease before i take it apart(In vehicle).
What is the safest and best way to do this?
Do spray cans damage electrical components and connections? there are so many warnings on de-greaser sprays...
How do you folks do this?

Spray cans and a user-friendly self-help car wash with high pressure wand (if it has a setting for "engine", it's probably user-friendly). Just don't use the brush under the hood - doesn't bode well for hobbyist/community relations.

And have a can of water displacement formula handy just in case. . .

Keep the TBI, dist and MAP dry. Rest shouldnt care too much about water as long as you dont drown them
