Gas Mileage

After finding out that so many people on this site use their third gens as daily drivers, I've been curiouse as to how to improve my gas mileage. I want to have a trans am with a 350 as my daily driver in the future. Is there any way to get 20 mpg in town, or is that as ridiculous as it sounds? If not, what is the best mileage possible with a modded 350 (in town and on freeway), and what would the mods be?

Re: Gas Mileage

CAI and shorty headers only before you get into the mileage. L98 wont make 20 in the city no matter how you drive. Thats V6 or LS1 territory

Your LO3 should get low 20s around town assuming its running right and isnt excessively modded

Re: Gas Mileage

Sorry Pocket, I've done it. In a heavier, '78 Camaro. Here's my recipe: High mileage, well-worn '78 LM1 350 with LG4 heads and intake, non-computer Q-Jet, HEI, stock '78 exhaust manifolds, 700R-4 with mild shift kit, 3.08:1 axle, 235/60R15 rear tires. I regularly did over 25 mpg at 65 mph highway, and 20 in town happened several times. That car did have the 5"-tall rear spoiler from a '77 Z28. It's as much your right foot as anything else.
