ugh more problems for my car

So, after the whole barn falling incident. I put my car on the road. drive it like a week, after having my mechanic tune it up($400) and new tires(450). it has trouble starting, i have to play with the gas to start, and the choke light comes on when im at a red light. So i buy some sea foam and go to my mechanic(family mechanic, never screw us over or anything). i put it in right in front of him. (1/3 in carb 2/3 in fresh tank of 91 octane) let it sit, then start home. didnt smoke much so i figured it was already pretty clean inside. so heading home i start hearing a little knock. i was almost home so i just kept driving. get home call my cuz and his father which has worked and raced small block chevy engines since they came out. he says its deff in the bottom end and it sounds like a spun bearing or a knuckle. Ethier way it needs a total rebuild. He says he can get a good rebuild kit for like 250. i saw a "performance" rebuild kit online for 350ish, ill try to find the link. on top of that i want a nicer bigger cam. A/C delete, new lifter and springs, new intake and carb. long tube headers right out the side maybe with glasspacks. dont tell me to find a 350 b/c i already have one but theres only 80 thousand miles on my engine and its in better shape than the 350. So can anyone tell me decent cheap headers, etc. i may already have a intake and carb set up so i should be good on that, im hoping to get the engine out saturday and spend the next week cleaning it and painting the block. also should i get new piston heads. and how much power should i be running with those. i know i cant get too close of a number because i dont have deff parts that im listing. but an educated guess would be nice. thanks

Re: ugh more problems for my car

you will not exceed 200 HP... also you don't know what's really wrong until you tear the motor apart... for an 87 you most likely will need a set of .010 pistons... but you won't know until it's apart..
