compression question

Car: 1988 firebird formula
Engine: 305/ soon to be carbed
Transmission: 700r4 / soon to have stall
Axle/Gears: dunno but i have 4.10's on the way
compression question

found a pretty good deal on a tbi 5.7 short block. how much compreesion would i be running if i kept my 305 heads. i have heard everything from 10:1 to 11:1. if anyone knows for sure let me know.

About 10:1, depending upon deck height and head gasket thickness.

Don't put LO3 heads on any 350. It'll detonate all the time, and be out of breath by 3500 rpm.
