holley annihilator rev limit issue

I recently received some speed parts for my 89 rs in a trade. Among the items i got is a holley annihilator ignition box and msd pro-billet distributor. I installed both these and the blaster 2 coil and everything worked fine. I noticed that the box has a built in rev-limiter that was set a 9900. I turned the dials to 5500 and started the car but the limit seems to be around 1500 or so I shut it down and moved the dials back to where they where but the limit is still really low. Any ideas on how to fix it ether by fixing the limiter or disabling it? Or did it kill the box by trying to set the limiter If i am right the dials are simple variable pots and i can just jumper them (0 ohm) do disable the limiter??

Does your Holley deal look like this:

If you feel clicks when you’re trying to set the limit, that means they’re DIP switches therefore jumping them won’t work.

If your Holley deal does look like the above we have the procedure.

Happy Racing!

Re: Ignition Mission

Yes, my box looks just like the one pictured. I took some pics of it but it looks like i forgot to post them. I pulled the bottom cover off and I looks to be filled with epoxy. I guess I could take it to my freind that is good with electronics and see if they are dips or pots. If its going to be too much of a pain I will just replace it. I have heard these boxes where not verry good anyhow.

Re: holley annihilator rev limit issue

It must be really old. My Holley Annihilator has a programmer that plugs in to change the settings. It's all done digitally. If I damage or lose the programmer, I'm screwed if I need to change settings since Holley stopped making ignitions years ago. Some are still available on Ebay for a fair price.

If my ignition box ever does fail, I'll have to change over to an MSD style ignition box and it would be one of the inexpensive ones because of the options I need it to do.
