86 Camaro 305 TPI non serpentine alternator bracket
when i got my car there was no alternator bracket on it, so i went and bought one from o reilly auto parts. doesn't fit, there isn't enough room between the top and bottom bracket for the alternator. so then i bought one off of classicindustries.com, it even said for a TPI setup, doesn't fit, the bottom bolt hole of the top bracket has nothing to bolt up to. i compared pictures and i am pretty sure they sent me a bracket for a non TPI setup. so could somebody post or send me pics of their bracket setup?? that would be great, thanks.

'86 V8 is '86 V8, from what I understand. Doesn't matter whether carb or TPI.

the bracket for that year TPI bolts to the runner, i'm not claiming to be an expert, but so far 2 brackets have not worked, and one was for a small block non serpentine setup that went through 86.

The alternator bracket you need is 85-86 Camaro TPI specific. 87 Camaro TPI is different again because they used a different alternator. They're TPI specific because on carbed cars the top bolt is horizontal and bolts to the top of the intake, and TPI cars it's vertical and bolts to the front runner bolt. I haven't heard anything about it for more then a few years, but if I remember correctly they've been discontinued for several years. There's some demand since that bracket needs to be changed when people convert to TPI on cars with V-belts. Try Ebay, junkyards, the classifieds, or just convert to serpentine belts.
