i am almost done with my 305 to 350 swap but ive had a few problems along the way i have a 88 firebird and the 350 came out of 88 chevy c2500 i got it all in and ready to start and when i hit the key the start was very loud but was turning the motor i have not hooked the distributer up so its not fireing yet when i climed under the car and looked the starter gear was stuck to the flywheel it will back off if i tap on it with a wrench the 350 had a 14in flyweel on it and my 700r4 wouldnt go on with it so i but a 13 in 153 tooth form autozone with is the same as what came off the 350. i assumed with a smaller fly wheel i needed to change to the same starter that was on the 305 so whent and got a reman starter wich is the same as the origanll. i shimmed it and shimmed it and shimmed it lol
still binding up a friend told me he always has the problem with remans somthing about the nose so i stuck the origionall starter off the 305 on it still the same results im not sure what to do from here im i wrong about useing the truck 350 starter with a smaller flywheel is this my problem i just figured since it was designed for a 14 in flywheel i just firgured it would sit to far out. please help i cant figure this one out on my own lol and this is my only car and really need to get it running thats for any advice you could give me

 

sorry the 13in flywheel is the same as what came off the 305 not the 350

 

no body has any suggestions or ever had this problem befor please any advice would be greatly appreacated
