Weird feel while adjusting new rockers
I was adjusting some new 1.6 roller tip rockers for my 1989 350 using the feel the exhaust start to move up/adjust intake and feel the intake almost stop going down and adjust the exhaust and on cylinder number two the pushrod feels soft when I push in on it. It made it very hard to get that one adjusted without the rocker feeling loose. When I push down on the end of the pushrod I can feel it move down some on the lifter then when I let go it comes back up. What is going on here?
Sorry, I am a complete novice just trying to learn.

Sounds like the hydrualics on the lifter is weak. Maybe a manufacturing defect, or just age since its old. As long as you dont horribly over tighten it, it should be ok.

When you turn the engine over by hand once or twice it is normal for the lifters to collapse due to lack of oil pressure.
BTW, you adjust that intake rocker when the exhaust rocker just starts to open ( down NOT up).

Re: Weird feel while adjusting new rockers
Sorry I wasn't clear. I was talking about pushrod movement which pushrod up equals rocker pushing down on the spring.
