good sbc engine rebuild guide? for free!??

Well after 2 dead l98s... I have to rebuild one...
Does anyone have a link to a good video or a good write up on rebuilding the short block on a SBC. I know there are alot out there, but if anyone knows of one that is easy to follow that would help me out alot.
I just plan on new rings and bearings, and what ever else comes with a "rebuild KIT" My orignal motor is in great condition other than a rod bearing, Pistons have no carbon, no sludge in pan or heads, cylinder walls good and heads had no carbon either. Hopefully it will be a easy rebuild.

thanks

Boxwrench is really good. If you search Google, you will find it but I believe its 2 GB in size so it will take a while or just buy it.

Find an old engine builder willing to teach....youll learn WAY more than a book can teach you.

A cheap Haynes book from Autozone will have all you need in it. Everything I have seen online makes things more complicated than they need to be.

Re: good sbc engine rebuild guide? for free!??

In my opinion the Haynes book makes it extremely complicated. It outlines "rebuilds" not builds. Its way of telling you how to install a distributor is to "mark where it is before you remove it" and that is nowhere near helpful. Its steps for valve lash are awful at best.

Travis is right, see if you cant find somebody who knows there stuff to teach you, books are references only in my opinion. If not, than youtube videos about engine rebuilding and such.

I bought this at boarders.......

http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette...-68-10417.html

I have yet to rebuild, but this book has a lot of info and step by step pics and instructions. Also has tips to find a good machine shop, and gives questions to ask them. Deals with the break down and reworking top end to bottom end. You can also buy a DVD instruction.

A 383 is just a 350 block bored .30 over and stroked. So no it wouldn't Brant harder but you'd have to have the block machined and you'd have to buy the stroke kit

When you get your block machine, tell them to stroker clearance the block for you so everything is all done. If your going to run a big cam make sure to check connecting rods to camshaft clearance.
