fuel pressure

I just check my fuel pressure on a 305 TPI motor. at start up it pegged the needle at 45lb plus. I thought TPI cars ran around 30-35psi.Am I right? If so my fuel reg. needs to be replaced. I have a rough idle and a fuelly smell exhaust. Can some confirm this? Thanks

Re: fuel pressure

100% stock tbi engines enjoy 13-13.5psi and those with some modifications enjoy 14-14.25psi.

Re: fuel pressure

ok but its a tuned port motor..TPI..I was told anything over 47psi reg. is bad. That is a constant pressure. Apon start up it could hit that then drop to mid 30's.
