help! car wont start,
so i just bought an 1987 camaro, drove it down the road about 5miles, and the thing dies, i try to turn it off then start it again... nothing. not even an engine crank, i check the battery, the starter has power, which leads me to beleive its something in the ignition, ignition switch?, i called CAA the guy thinks the same thing, could be an ignition switch or a fuse, power windows dont work, neither does the power hatch, or the radio, lights work.
any suggestions? thanks alot for your help guys.

Re: help! car wont start,
If it died while running and then wouldn't crank. I'd have to agree on either wiring or a fuse. There should be two IGN fuses if i recall. Both are 10amp. Also, check the leads to the starter solenoid. There should be 3 prongs on the solenoid (2 small, 1 big). The big one should have 2-3 red wires going to it and 1 from the battery, make sure this is tight. The small terminal closest to the block should have a single purple wire on it ( ign on ). The other small terminal should have nothing. Also one last thing. Check the C100 bulkhead connector next to the brake booster going into the firewall. Make sure it's tight. It's held in by a bolt, i believe it's a 8mm.

is the ignition fuse two 10 amps? or would it be one big amp one?

Re: help! car wont start,
If it's one it should be a 20amp fuse. If it's two, should be 2 10amps. The purple wire runs up a harness to the C100 connector on the firewall (seen at the bottom of the picture below, to the right of the brake booster). The C100 is where power for the dash, windows, ign, and etc comes from. Along with gauges. If this is loose you might not get power to certain devices.
