Distributor arm removal

Hi all,

First off... greetings from the UK!

I've been having some problems getting my car started so thought I would check the distributor for corrosion. I removed the dustributor cap fine and cleaned the contacts. However, I couldn't remove the distributor arm. They usually just pull off don't they? I didn;t want to force it without checking first as I may be missing a screw or something.

My car is an 89 RS with the 5l TBI engine.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Mark

Re: Distributor arm removal

You mean the rotor? Yes, they just pull off. But the originals are often stuck on the top of the distributor shaft bad enough that removal is a destructive process. Once you finally get it off clean the top of the shaft and smear a little grease on it so that you don't have the same problem in the future.

Re: Distributor arm removal

Yes I meant the rotor.
Great... thanks very much.

I can now put a bit more force into getting it off!
