Re: iroc or rs
That only tells you engine size, if he has a 305tbi it could be either. If it is a v6, its an RS.
Check for a wonderbar, and the factory metal bracing that bolts to the strut tower from the frame rail. Simple things like the hood, taillights, wheels, badges, grill, foglights, etc. are IROC specific, but can be easily swapped.

Re: iroc or rs
In 85-87 You could get 3 engines in an IROC:
L69 (HO carb 305)
LB9 (305TPI)
L98 (350 TPI 87 Only)
I don't believe the LG4 was offered in an IROC.
From 88-90, since the IROC replaced all Z28 models, the IROC had the same engine options that a Z28 WOULD HAVE HAD if it were available.
L03 (TBI 305)
LB9
L98
The L03 TBI was the base engine for the IROC from 88-90.

Well it just depends on what your looking for, and how much you want to spend? Most non third gen people don't know the difference anyway, They just see the door decals and think it's an IROC-Z. There are alot of TPI Z28's with door decals that are not true IROC's, but that are sold as an IROC. Buyer beware.
