i just bought a 89 GTA today with the 5.7. everytime i drove it, it started right up, no hesitation ran fine and everything. owner said the MAF may be covered in oil from a K&N air filter he put on, but it always started. after i picked it up, i drove it around town a lot. made many stops. off and on and always started.

parked it in my driveway when i got home. went to move it closer to the garage to clean it. started right up. after about half hour of cleaning the inside, i try to start it, nothing happens. it cranks but it won't fire. i let it sit for bout 15 minutes, still nothin. i hear the fuel pump come on most of the time. maybe the fuel pump decides to go out the day i buy it?

 

my first thoughts would be check/replace battery and get starter/altenator tested. the batt might just need to be charged so try that first then starter or alt if it isnt the batt, good luck. i had the exact same problem and it was the starter

 

no it cranks just fine. it's just not getting any fuel. i sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake and it started right up and stayed running. but then i had to do it a couple more times after i shut the car off. filled up with gas and everything is fine. but i wasn't that low though so idk.
