well changed out the intake on the camaro and after timing it tried to start it and timing was off so did some more timing and after turning the engine for a while i noticed gas leaking out of the exhaust. A good sized puddle at that. What are we doing wrong?

What we did is used a coat hangar and got the number 1 cylinder at tdc then dropped in dist to where rotor was pointing at the number one cylinger lined the cap up and hooked the wires up. Did i miss something? I did put my finger over the spark plug hole and felt for compression and air was pushing out.
