Air not blowing fast enough

Ok so a common problem with all my third gens.. The heat, A/C, vent, no matter what it is on never blows good enough. The blower motor is good you can hear it crank on HI and all other speeds work fine, BUT the air flow actually coming out of the vents is weak. What are the common problems associated with this very frustrating problem..lol?

Having the heat not blow good is ok but when its 95 degrees out and you need the A/C its a big problem.

How well do the front speakers in the dash sound???

Often to get some decent speakers in there you discover that the only way to make em fit is to remove and cut into some of the air ducting.

Making only the 2 center ones and the floor vent blow any decent air.

Had to trim my speedo housing some too to jam in mine

Re: Air not blowing fast enough

HAHA good thought I wouldn't put it past someone to do that. However I replaced my dash speakers last month and the ducts looked fine.

I am thinking that maybe it is a vacuum issue, if vacuum even controls it?? When I am on the highway I can swear that the air blows faster than when I am driving around town..

Check dirt buildup in the coils. (evaporator and heater) These cars don't have a filter so it's possible to have 25 years worth of dirt stuck in 'em.

Yea vacuum does it, you can hear it hiss when the slider is set to off on mine.

How about on max AC? When set on max AC it should close the fresh air vent, so air would not come in faster if all is well......

Even if the temp control isn't on cool. The max AC positoin closes it.

Re: Air not blowing fast enough

I just replaced the evap. and cleaned out everything I could get to. I just got my A/C working and I never realized that it blew out so poorly.

When it is on vent, or heat, or just normal A/C it barley blows out any air. When it is on MAX A/C it blows out like setting 2 or 3 when it is set to HI.

While your blower motor works, is it, after many years, functioning as it should? I ask because after I replaced my functioning motor with a new one, there was a noticeable improvement.
