Good Deal? and Need Opinions
hi, i just got an 88 iroc about a week ago and there aren't many for sale around here so i was wondering if people think i got ripped off or a good deal, had 2nd gens all my life now bumped it up to 3rd gen, and do you think it would be worth it more in the long run to mod it up engine swap, etc or leave it how it is.
Basically it's a 1988 iroc, t-tops, power everything, 167,000 km's, 305 tbi, 5 speed, completely stock, nothing has ever been touched on the car except for an alarm system, mint condition, got it from the original owner who got it from the dealership in 88, original paint, have the original rims as well, 15" iroc wheels, spotless under the hood, never winter driven, lady owned, she said even when it looked like it was going to rain she put it back in the garage, runs and drives amazingly, she was expecting 10,000 for it but i got it for 6, put the wheels on it after i got it, was factory tires on the iroc wheel, pretty worn lol. do you think 6 was a good price? and should i hot rod it or keep it original? i'm flip flopping so much it's crazy lol.
i have pics up at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3865851/1

If its really in the condition you describe, you got a nice deal. You can do what you want with the car, its yours, but an all original IROC will likely be one of the first 3rd gens to rocket up in value (aside from the very specific rare cars). I would do what I can to preserve/restore anything that's wrong, take care of her, and leave it in all original shape. IROCs are really something special.
Personally, I'd say if you want to hot rod a 3rd gen, find one thats in worse shape and/or less valuable in the long run. Get a V6 Camaro RS for a thousand, and hot rod it. That way, your not loosing the possible appreciation in value from the IROC.

true, i was flip flopping around on rodding it because it just has that 305 tbi in it but then again it might make it worth more in the end because of people ripping them out and dropping 350's in

Yeah, we're at the point that IROC's are starting to be valuable untouched. Any lesser 3rd gen, I'd say drop that 350 in no problem. But IROCs are especially starting to become hard to find, especially original.
