What would happen if you just ploped in a carb and a not electric dizzy?
Say you got a regular 305 tbi. If you just get a carb and manifold to match, pop it in, and drop in a non-electric dizzy, what would happen?
Is there any other part of the engine that the ECM controls? If not, would the ECM freak out and make other things not work correctly?
Thanks for any info.

Should work just fine... You'd also need to do something about the fuel pressure, it'll be too high for a carb. Either use a Mallory 4309 style regulator or unplug the pump and get a cheap $40-$60 mechanical...

Does anyone know if the computer will still retain use of the knock sensor circuit if it's unplugged from most of the other sensors? (keeping the dizzy reference pulse, so it knows the engine is alive). I think that would be a far cheaper choice than buying a stand alone knock sensor module for those running some of the more radical compression values.
But, to answer your question, yes it will run with just carb and distributor, and fuel system changes (as previous posters pointed out) If you know your wiring, you might even be able to keep cruise control. If you have electric fans, get a fan switch to replace the computer controlled fan (or wire the computer up to piggy back things like fan switch, 1990+ speedometers, 1990+ cruise control modules) Your EGR, AIR, and EVAP will no longer work, so make provisions for those that need it (vent your tank, etc)
